Island Auto Supplies donates Copier-Printer-Fax Machine to Irish Town Primary School

Ian 'Youthman' Nisbett and Sylvester ‘Seymour’ Williams shake hands along with teachers and students of the Irish Town Primary school.
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TEACHERS and students of the Irish Town Primary School are now in a better position to prepare for promotional examinations, assignments and the dissemination of printed educational information following the donation of a machine that comprises a photo copier, fax, printer and scanner.
The donation was made yesterday morning [Monday] by Sylvester ‘Seymour’ Williams, owner of Island Auto Supplies on request of the recently formed Past Students Association of the Irish Town Primary School.
At a simple ceremony held at Island Auto Supplies, Bird Rock Industrial Estate, Williams handed over the machine to Elvis Charles, Principal of the School, in the presence of 14 students and two teachers, Mochina Pemberton and Natasha Elliott.
Charles, who has over 26 years experience in the teaching profession, told SKNVibes that in addition to Ian ‘Youthman’ Nisbett, Dr. Mervin Laws, Curtis Martin and Williams are all members of the Past Students Association of Irish Town Primary School, and they have been continuously giving to the education institution prior to the formation of the Association.
~~Adz:Right~~ It was also disclosed that Williams has been making contributions to the school since starting his business in 1988 and has annually donated medals and trophies for Sports Day as well as jerseys for netball and football teams of the school
Earlier in the year, he donated a microwave to the school as the government’s provided stove was in a state of disrepair. SKNVibes learnt that the school was in dire need of a proper printer, copier and fax machine for about five years, but had been waiting to receive one through regular channels of the Ministry of Education when Williams made the offer.
Although schools in the Federation will be closed as of Friday, April 11, this donation is timely and much needed as students approach the final or promotion term which is when the copier-printer would be needed in preparation for examinations.
The Past Student Association comprises a group of persons who came together to give back to the school of their childhood. There was a soft launch in early February 2008 where a wide cross-section of the business community who had attended the Irish Town Primary were  invited to confirm the levels of support they would be able to commit to the efforts of this newly formed association.
Nisbett revealed that there are about seven other members helping to coordinate and facilitate benefactors for much needed school supplies, materials and, to some extent, renovations.
There are no elected members or a formal committee, but in the absence of this Nisbett feels that Irishtown Primary School should not be made to wait while the committee for the Past Students Association is properly formulated.
