BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TWO more young men were recently charged for kidnapping Gilda Rawlins-Vaughan and are currently in custody at Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP).

The two men, Jermaine Riley of Soho and Ali Percival of Cardin Avenue, now join their alleged accomplices Clayton ‘Yellow’ Laws of Nevis Street, Basseterre and Jahmana ‘Sky Juice’ Walters of Parsons Village who on Wednesday (Nov. 2) were also charged with the kidnapping of Rawlins-Vaughan.

This information was confirmed today (Nov. 9) by Deputy Commissioner of Police Stafford Liburd, who noted that Riley and Percival were previously remanded to HMP on charges of possession of firearms and ammunition.

On the morning of Friday (Oct. 28), two men had entered the Sea View Housing home of Larry Vaughan and his wife Gilda and removed them from the premises. And at about 5:30 a.m. the husband was released on the Kim Collins Highway.

Information reaching SKNVibes on the morning of the incident indicated that criminals had kidnapped the Vaughans and demanded that the husband go to the CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank where he is employed and return with an undisclosed sum of money before his wife would be released.

However, at approximately 3:15 a.m. on the following day, a joint operation, which comprised members of the Delta Squad, Strategic Intelligence Unit, Criminal Investigations Department and the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force, was launched at an unoccupied house at the junction of East Park Range and Park Street and the kidnapped victim was rescued.

She was immediately taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital, where she was medically examined and later released.

Liburd noted in a release that during the operation, members of the security forces subdued Riley and Percival who were in the house with the victim.

He also noted that three firearms and more than 70 rounds of assorted ammunition were found in the house.
