OTI announces Employee of the Quarter winner

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Ocean Terrace Inn continues to recognize the hard work and dedication of its employees with the recent announcement of its Employee of the Quarter winner.

     

    Taking the Certificate of Appreciation for the period of July to September 2011 is Craig Rouse, Chef at Fisherman’s Wharf.

     

    This is the second time during his three and a half years of employment with the company that he has received an award of that nature. Rouse said that even though he has won the award before, he was a bit surprised when he learned that he had won but “hard work pays off and I am glad to be recognized for my hard work”.

     

    Delvin Nias, Restaurant Manager, explained that Rouse was chosen due to his all-round nature, saying “Craig is one of the most versatile employees at the Fisherman’s Wharf”. He is like a one man show; he cooks, ‘preps’, even washes dishes – he does everything. One can hardly find people in this industry who can do all of that without complaining,” he explained.

     

    Every department in the hotel has the option of nominating a deserving employee for the award. Every nominee is then judged based on the criteria stipulated and a winner is chosen. Among the criteria for judging the Employee of the Quarter are punctuality, attendance, performance, and how well the employees work as a team and with management.

     

    Accounts Manager, Heidi Slack explained that the Employee Recognition Programme has been in effect for over five years and it was established as a means of acknowledging and rewarding employees who go the extra mile for the company.” It is all about boosting employee morale as well as trying to reward employees for their work. It sets standards for employees to work towards. It also offers the managers an opportunity to personally thank the employees for their ongoing contribution to helping us as a hotel ensure that we exceed customer expectations,” she elucidated.

     

    The Ocean Terrace Inn is a hotel that was first opened in 1969. It is the umbrella company for the Waterfalls Restaurant as well as the Fisherman’s Wharf Restaurant. Apart from its daily functions, the hotel caters to conferences, business gatherings, wedding receptions and other special occasions.
