By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN continuance of their relentless 24/7 patrols and operations aimed at making St. Kitts a safer place for residents of and visitors to the island, members of the Delta Squad, in collaboration with the Drug Squad, Special Services Unit and officers from District ‘B’, had arrested and charged yet another man for possession of illegal drugs.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Stafford Liburd, Devaughn Hodge of Sandy Point is currently on bail and would soon be taken before a magistrate to answer to the charge of possession of cannabis sativa (marijuana or ganja).

It should however be noted that there are two individuals named Devaughn Hodge residing in Sandy Point; a former member of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force and an individual who had returned to his homeland after living overseas for some years.

It is the latter Devaughn Hodge who was charged.

Reports indicate that during the wee hours of Friday morning (Nov. 4), the security officers executed a warrant on Hodge’s home within which they found a quantity of cannabis sativa.

Since the formation of the Delta Squad some weeks ago, many individuals were arrested and charged for various offences including possession of firearms, ammunition and illegal drugs.

According to the Commissioner of Police, Celvin ‘CG’ Walwyn, it is one of his four initiatives in making the Federation a safer place for all.

He declared that the Delta Squad comprises ranks from both the Police and Defence Forces and they operate in two teams around the clock on a daily basis, patrolling in hotspots in St. Kitts and launching joint operations around the island; many of which have borne fruits of success.
