Digicel Domino Cup climaxes in Nevis

Supporters of each team came out to wish them well

    18 teams entered the first ever Digicel Domino Cup in Nevis

     

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, November 10th, 2011 – Over the past month, lovers of the game of Dominoes in Nevis took part in the first ever Digicel Domino Cup. The launch of the tournament took place at the Déjà Vu Night Club on Saturday 1st October, 2011.

     

    A total of 18 teams came out to the launch and registered in the Digicel Domino Cup, where teams were placed into three zones. After a brief launch, which was attended by the Minster of Sports in the Nevis Island Administration, Mr. Hensley Daniel, the Digicel Domino Cup got underway.

     

    Throughout the month of October, the 18 teams played against each other with hopes of winning bragging rights of being the 2011 Champions and claiming the attractive prize purse. Matches in the Digicel Domino Cup were played at popular spots across Nevis including night clubs and restaurants.

     

    The grand finale of the Digicel Domino Cup, Nevis Edition, was hosted at Pas’ Bar at the Charlestown Waterfront on the afternoon of Saturday 5th November. Gathering at the location was a large crowd of spectators which included Digicel’s Marketing Team, members of the Nevis Domino Association, family and friends of the Domino finalists, all who took part in fun activities to win complimentary credit and Digicel paraphernalia.

     

    The exciting matches finished just after 9PM with Team “Gwenneth’s Bar” as the winners of the Digicel Domino Cup in Nevis, winning themselves the 2011 Championship Trophy, a $1,000 cash prize and a Digicel handset for each team member. Second place was “Bull Dogs” and each team member walked away with a Digicel phone, a medal and $600 cash for the team. Following behind were “Prophets” and “Jessups” who won $400 and $200 cash respectively.

     

    Digicel Sales and Marketing Executive for Nevis, Mrs. Yasmine Hanley, in speaking about the tournament said; “The Digicel Domino Cup was introduced to the people of St. Kitts earlier this year and now we were very happy to expand it to the people of Nevis.”

     

    She had high hopes for its longevity and said; “Next year we do intend to make the Digicel Domino Cup bigger and better, as we always stay true to our company’s tagline.” Digicel thanks the Nevis Domino Association for its involvement in making the Digicel Domino Cup a huge success in Queen City, Nevis.
