Police and Parents search for missing boy of Nevisian Parentage

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE in The Netherlands are currently searching for a young man who is said to be of Nevisian parentage who has been missing since Oct. 20.

     

    The man is said to be Joaquim Jamal Richards 24, son of former St. Maarten Lt. Governor Franklyn Richards. Joaquim went missing in Groningen, the Netherlands, according to The Daily Herald online.

     

    According to police, Richards may have left his house in Groningen around October 20 in what was described as a "confused state." There has been no trace of him since. It is unknown how Richards left his house but Police said Richards needs medication.

     

    Richards is a former student of Milton Peters College (MPC) who went to the Netherlands to study in 2006. His description on the police website states that he has a dark complexion, is 1.80 metres tall, has a slender build, a long face and weighs about 65 kilos. He may be wearing a black coat, jeans and a T-shirt. He wears a golden necklace with large chain links. He has a scar on his back, one on his lower arm and several on his hands.

     

    According to a local source, Richards is of Nevisian parentage with family in St. Kitts and St. Martin.

     

    According to another news source, the parents are appealing to anyone who might have seen him or knows the whereabouts of the young man, to contact them or police.

     

    Persons who may have information on Richards are advised to contact the police in Groningen.
