National footballer charged with rape, unlawful carnal knowledge

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JUST days after a member of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force was charged for allegedly raping and having unlawful carnal knowledge of an underage girl, similar charges have been placed on the head of a very popular national footballer.

     

    According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Stafford Liburd, the footballer, who is said to be in his late 20s, was arrested on Sunday (Nov. 6) and later charged on two counts of rape and two counts of unlawful carnal knowledge committed in June and October 2011.

     

    On Saturday (Nov.5), a Constable based at the Cayon Police Station was arrested and charged with rape and unlawful carnal knowledge.

     

    This information was confirmed by the Officer with responsibility for Crime, Assistant Commissioner Ian Queeley, who told SKNVibes that the alleged incident took place at the Cayon Police Station on Friday (Oct.
    30) while the minor and her brother were in custody there following their arrest for an undisclosed matter.

     

    Both incidents are under investigation.

     

    According to the laws of St. Kitts and Nevis, unlawful carnal knowledge is an adult having sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16.
