    Taiwan’s President-Elect tells Prime Minister Douglas he will honour commitments and promises

    incoming President Ma to maintain the excellent relationship developed over the past 25 years.
     
    Dr. Douglas gave the assurance that his St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Administration will continue to work with the Republic of China on Taiwan and its allies.
     
    Prime Minister Douglas assured the Vice President of Taiwan that the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis will be represented at the Inauguration of the new President in May by the Governor General His Excellency Dr. Sir Cuthbert Sebastian.
     
    The Vice President extended an invitation to Prime Minister Douglas to visit Taiwan at his earliest convenience to meet the new Taiwanese President His Excellency Dr. Ma Ying-jeon.

    Prime Minister Douglas in his recent congratulatory message to President-Elect Ma Ying-jeon, said he hoped that under his leadership, the relationship will continue to blossom, producing benefits of mutual advantage for both countries.

Indeed the road ahead will be filled with challenges and I assure you of my country’s firm support,” said Prime Minister Douglas.
    – The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affiars in the Republic of China on Taiwan, His Excellency Javier C.S. Hou has reaffirmed the friendly relationship between the Government and People of the Asian nation and the Government and People of St. Kitts and Nevis.
     
    Mr. Hou told St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, during a courtesy call on Tuesday that the outgoing foreign affairs policy of His Excellency Chen Shui-bian will be continued by the incoming administration of President-Elect, His Excellency Dr. Ma Ying-jeon.
     
    The Taiwanese Deputy Foreign Minister also informed Prime Minister Douglas that President-Elect Ma will honour the commitments and promises made to the Government and People of St. Kitts and Nevis when the Federation’s leader visited Taipei in late January/early February this year.
     
    Prime Minister Douglas expressed gratitude for the continued strengthening of the relationship between St. Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan during the administration of President Chen Shui-Bian and welcomed the decision of the
