    ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, November 14th, 2011  – Premier Dr. The Honourable D. Orlando Smith OBE, in a letter to Prime Minister Honourable Stephenson King, has extended condolences to the Government and people of Saint Lucia, and to the relatives of the victims who recently lost their lives when a bus they were travelling in plunged off a cliff.

    Writing on behalf of the Territory’s Government and people the Premier stated: “We were deeply saddened to learn of this horrific accident and the adverse effect it is having not only on the government and families of the Saint Lucia, but the region as a whole.”

     

    Honourable Smith wrote, “At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with the nation during this period of mourning. We pray that God would bring you comfort during this time of intense grief.”

     

    Premier Smith concluded the letter, stating, “The entire Government and people of the Virgin Islands join me in expressing condolences and give you the assurance of our highest consideration.”

     

    The accident occurred last week Thursday in the southwest village of Choiseul. Authorities have reported that the catastrophic accident claimed 17 lives.
