BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A happy Joycelyn Stapleton exclaimed, “A win is a win!” after competing against four beautiful and intelligent ladies when she managed to capture the title of Miss Big and Beautiful 2011 at Carnival City on Saturday night (Nov. 12, 2011).

Stapleton’s use of the English language and judged attire earned her the Introductory Speech and Creative Formal Wear segment awards enabling her to amass a whopping 183 points.

Placing First Runner-up, Nikesha Hazel managed to capture the Best Talent award in which she portrayed a lady being verbally abused by her partner due to her size but who, however, remained proud and happy with herself.

Hazel was also awarded the Best Interview title and Miss Amity. She almost edged out the winner with her 181 points.

Attaining the titles of Miss Photogenic, Best Swimwear and Best Evening Wear, Simone Hanley managed to capture the Second Runner-up position amassing a total of 173 points.

The other two contestants were Sherema Warner and Shermel Cox.

The house band for that evening, Green House, entertained the crowd well while the competing ladies were preparing back stage.

Other featured performances were by:  Even3, Creative Sole, H20, DC & Kitten, Kashman and X-Man, whose dynamic performance that consisted of two children dancing to his famous hit single ‘Food all Ova’ thrilled the audience.

Apart from the five contestants, another highlight of this event was the MC himself Delante Lewis, who is currently a student at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College.

Lewis swayed the crowd, especially when bedecked in his swimwear attire - a short pant, a shirt and his goggles which he had donned for the swimwear segment.

He held the crowd’s attention when he pretended to be ‘sunk’ by one of the voluptuous ladies. The crowd went wild as they laughed and clapped, cheering Lewis on to continue his act.

Lewis, a first-timer at hosting a show, “did a commendable job on entertaining the crowd” said lead vocalist of the Green House Band, Mark Willet.

Willet commended the young man on his splendid entertaining skills and his crowd captivating presence.

Willet also mentioned that Lewis’ new-found talent as an entertainer could match that of the best and most favourite MC – Leslie ‘Sugar Bowl’ Morton  with his level of hilariousness.

This Pageant was one of the many Island Soul Entertainment Presentations.

The show kicked off to a late start at approximately 10:00 p.m. and ended at just about 2:00 a.m.
