BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – STILL at the fore of security operations in St. Kitts with a zero-tolerance approach to crime, members of the Delta Squad recently arrested another man and slapped three charges on him for possession of illegal drugs.
Tosh Boston of Caunt Street, Newtown was arrested and charged on Wednesday (Nov. 16) with cultivation of cannabis, possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.
SKNVibes learned that at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday during one of their patrols in Basseterre, members of the Delta Squad apprehended Boston at Bakers Corner and took him to his home with the intention of searching for guns, ammunition and controlled drugs.
Nothing illegal was found within his home, but in his yard the officers found growing a number of cannabis plants ranging from one foot to six feet in height.
The plants were uprooted and taken into custody along with Boston at the Basseterre Police Station.
He was however granted bail on Friday (Nov. 18) and is scheduled to appear in court shortly.
Commissioner of Police Celvin ‘CG’ Walwyn was high in praise of the Delta Squad, noting that in the first month of its 24/7 operations approximately five illegal firearms and hundreds of ammunition were removed from the streets and also some 3 000 marijuana plants.
He also thanked the public and private sector for their support which, together with the proactive measures by the Police and Defence Forces, has had a positive impact on crime.
