BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JUST 14.5 hours after the overturning of a vehicle owned by Fancy Loaf, the Federation recorded yet another traffic accident. This time, however, it’s the collision of a motorcar and a motorcycle in downtown Basseterre.

At about 8:30 this morning [Thursday], a Bluebird motorcar and a Honda NX250 motorcycle collided at the junction of Fort and Central Streets and left the motorcyclist with superficial bruises to his upper left arm.

The motorcar [PA432] was driven by Woman Police Sergeant Diane Mills of Sandy Point and the motorcycle [P9147] was ridden by Antonio Manners of Ponds Extension, Newtown.

According to Manners, while driving along Fort Street and he was about to make a left turn into Central Street, a motorcar overtook him on the left and collided with his motorcycle.

Manners said he was approximately 40 feet from the corner when he indicated that he was about to turn and was struck by the car, which caused him to fall with the motorcycle on the centre of Fort Street.

Minor damage was done to the car but although it could have been ridden, the motorcycle’s handle was bent and a number of parts were damaged including the mirror, gear site, side ‘fearing’ and front head ‘fearing.   ~~Adz:Right~~

Manners noted that because of wearing his helmet, his head was protected even though it received a hard blow when he fell on the roadway.

This safety measure was emphasised by the traffic officer, who had arrived shortly after the accident to conduct investigations.
