Local Beauty Queen to represent Federation in Miss Caraibes Hibiscus Pageant

Alsanarda Hanley to represent St. Kitts and Nevis in Miss Caraibes Hibiscus Pageant in St. Martin Dec. 3.

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LOCAL beauty queen, Alsanarda Hanley is presently in St. Martin representing the Federation in the Miss Caraibes Hibiscus Pageant.

     

    Hanley who is also currently the first ever Miss St Kitts-Nevis Caraibes Hibiscus Model, will compete in various segments with over 20 contestants from November 25-December 5.

     

    The final night of the pageant will be held at the Convention Center Sonesta Maho Beach Resort on December 3 and the segments are Traditional Wear, Speech, Swimwear and Evening Wear.

     

    So far 23 countries have confirmed their participation in the pageant including Peru, Venezuela, Bolivia, Trinidad & Tobago, St. Vincent, Dominica, St. Lucia, Puerto Rico, Paraguay, Guadelope, Guyana, Columbia and Costa Rica.

     

    According to reports a full and busy programme is what the contestants of the Miss Caraïbes Hibiscus usually have in store for them which includes visits to Butterfly Farm, Loterie Farm fly zone and the plantation, St. Martin Museum, Receptions and Cocktails; Photo-shoots, sight-seeing, MIP office (Marigot), Collectivity Hall (Marigot), Dutch Government Building and the Harbour.

     

    Unidentified judges will also be keeping tabs on the contestants' behaviour during the scheduled outings and on the night of the show, are to judge character and beauty, from without and within, intelligence and form.

     

    The pageant was founded by Patrick Eugene in 1990 and a pageant was held every year after that until now except in 1992. Last year’s winner is Miss French Guiana.

     

    The Miss Caraïbes Hibiscus winner will serve as the spokesperson for the Caribbean islands throughout her reigning year, travelling on promotional trips to the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and the USA.

     

    In the past, Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss USA and top models like Satia Oblett from Kenzo have been special guests at the invitation of Eugene, as their presence is said to add that extra sparkle and pizzazz to the pageant.

     

    Hanley who is also a local model has a wealth of experience in pageantry and won the first ever Miss Culture Swimsuit in 2010.
