She said the Authority encourages every resident and citizen of the island to adopt the slogan - "Keeping Nevis Clean is Every-bodies Business" – if the island is to become a premiere tourist destination and remain pristine for those that call her home.

She said during Earth Day; many environmentalist and waste management professionals worldwide will be marching, planting trees and organizing events to heighten awareness of global warming and other environmental concerns.

Ms Lawrence also said that the Independence 25 Clean-up Committee will launch its clean-up campaign on the April 22nd, the same day that the Authority marks the Earth Day event.

"While we intend to have fun on our march, carrying our "re-useable" placards and banners we are confident that we will accomplish our goal of heightening awareness to the importance of keeping Nevis Clean and taking care of the earth that has been entrusted to us," said the General Manager of the Authority, Ms. Carlyn Lawrence.
