    15-year-old remanded on ammunition possession charge!!
    Five convicted for controlled drugs

    ~~Adz:Right~~ CHARLESTOWN, Nevis - A 15-year-old male of New Castle was on Monday remanded to prison after he was allegedly found in possession of a quantity of ammunition.
     
    Defence counsel Dr. Henry Browne however requested that Magistrate Yasmine Clarke allow the juvenile to be remanded in Charlestown instead of Basseterre due to his tender age. Browne’s request was granted and he indicated that bail would be sought, but due to the seriousness of the offence he will have to make the application at the High Court.
     
    In the same court, five persons were fined for possession of controlled drugs.
     
    Dale Rochester of Newtown Ground, St. Kitts was convicted for possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply and fined $2 500 which he is expected to pay in three months. If he does not pay the amount, Rochester will be jailed for six months. The offence, according to Police Prosecutor Inspector Andre Mitchell, was committed at the Charlestown Pier on April 21, 2008.
     
    Elvis Bradshaw of Newtown Ground, St. Kitts was convicted and fined $1 000 to be paid in three months or, if in default, six months imprisonment for the offence of controlled drugs. This offence also occurred at the Charlestown Pier but on April 3, 2008.
     
    Anthony Ranton of New Road, St. Peters was convicted and fined $1 500 to be paid in three months or six months imprisonment for the offence of possession of controlled drugs. The offence was reportedly committed at Cades Bay on April 3, 2008.
     
    West Bury resident Patrick Jeffers was convicted and fined $800 for possession of controlled drugs. He has two months to comply with the Magistrate’s order or serve a three-month sentence at Her Majesty’s prison.
     
    He was also convicted and fined $500 to be paid in three months or one month imprisonment for failing to confirm to the indication given by a traffic sign – “NO ENTRY”. Both offences occurred at Main Street, Charlestown on April 10, 2008.
     
    For the possession of controlled drugs committed on April 18, 2008 in Rawlins Pasture, Nevis, Randolph Browne of the said village was convicted and fined $800. This amount must be paid within one month or he will be imprisoned for one month.
     
    And Adaobi Okonkwo of Camps Village was convicted and fined $500 for driving motor vehicle P468 when she was not the holder of a valid driver’s license. She was also convicted and fined $500 for driving the said vehicle while not covered by an insurance policy or a security in respect of Third Party Risk.
     
    These offences were committed at Rawlins Pasture on April 21, 2008, and Okonkwo will have to pay the first fine within one month or serve a two-month imprisonment, while on the second, she is required to comply with the Magistrate’s order within two months or serve a one-month sentence at her Majesty’s Prison.
