BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, December 7th, 2011 - SKN Proud[ly] presents “The Cultural Market” - a collaborative effort of the Craft House St. Kitts and Caribe Café. This dynamic initiative will give both locals and tourist the opportunity to experience “A Fusion of Cuisine, Music and Craft.”
The Cultural Market takes place at Caribe Café every Friday and Saturday from 10 am. There, patrons can expect to find an array of locally made products (from the Craft House), food (from Caribe Café) as well as local entertainment in the form of folklore and music - string band and steel pan, etc.
This coming Saturday, December 10th, we extend a special open initiation to all taxi and tour operators for a special open house, but the general public is invited to join in on the excitement, particularly on Friday for the Buffet Lunch and Live Entertainment. For the open house, taxi and tour operators will get a chance to understand a number of proposals that the hosts of The Cultural Market plan to put in place, that directly benefit them.
These include promotional packages and other incentives available exclusively to promotional partners of “The Cultural Market” as a means of advancing the idea of “buying local.” The facilitators of the open house will also educate the public about their plan to introduce another promotional package that is geared toward giving back to the companies that sponsor carnival; in the form of incentives to their employees.
The uniqueness of this event falls on the fact that it is an initiative that is made possible by two locally owned, community and culturally aware businesses, the Craft House and Caribe Café. Both businesses continually seek avenues to enhance the cultural well being of St. Kitts and Nevis.
The hosts of the cultural market ultimately are seeking to increase their market, whilst getting other stakeholders on board like tour operators and taxi drivers, who can further the idea of being SKN Proud and showing it, by supporting local businesses and producers of local products.
This is a true demonstration of how Tourism is Key for all of us and is a timely event coming on the heels of Tourism Month and in the heart of the Festival Season.
