Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 12th, 2011 - The 10 Finalists who will later this month, participate in the MiyVue.com/ZIZ King of the Tents Calypso Competition, were selected on Friday afternoon, (9th December, 2011), , during a live radio program, hosted on ZIZ.
The show, which is in its second year, has been scheduled to take place on Wednesday 21st December, at Fat Tuesday Restaurant & Bar, located at Port Zante.
Those chosen by the popular vote of the public, who called in to the station to make known their preferences, are:
• Lil Willy
• Aba Lively
• Hot Rod
• Fantastic Tunda
• Jennifer and
The calypsonians will be required to sing only one song, which must be the same one, on which their selection was based. According to the organizers of the event, this contest is for those calypsonians who each year, produce the most humourous, witty, entertaining and funny songs, creating great laughter and excitement in the Tents.
If one is to go by the vote count in Friday’s selection, the leading contenders so far, appear to be Rock-a-fellow, Honesty, Fantastic Tunda, Unexpected and Jennifer.
Members of the public have been expressing their support for the format to be used in the selection of the eventual winners on the night of the contest.
According to officials, it is the public, rather than an official panel of judges, that will determine who is to be crowned king or queen. This will be done when those attending the contest are given the opportunity to vote for their choice.
Each patron in attendance will be given a ballot to cast their vote; while the option to text your vote to a prescribed number will also be exercised; and thirdly by voting online, at www.miyvue.com.

No admission will be charged for the contest but fans in attendance will be invited to make a donation or contribution of their choice. Part of the proceeds will be presented to the oldest living calypsonians in St. Kitts & Nevis and perhaps the world, King of the 29 Fellows, who is 90 years old.
When the contest was launched in 2010, it was won by Unexpected, with Lala as First Runner and both Felix and Rock-a-fellow tied for the Second Runner-Up slot. Last year’s show was held at De House Nitery in Soho.
