BASSETERRE, Si. Kitts, December 20th, 2011 (CUOPM) – Carnival and police officials are denying rumours making the rounds that J’Ouvert 2011 will end earlier than usual.
The Office of the Prime Minister has been inundated with calls asking whether police had given instructions that J’Ouvert will end at 8 a.m. on Monday 26th December 2011.
“There is no truth whatsoever to this rumour,” said Commissioner of Police, Mr. C.G. Walwyn when contacted by the Communications Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister (CUOPM).
Carnival Committee chairperson, Ms. Shannon Hawley also denied any prior arrangement for an early end to J’Ouvert, which starts at 1 am and normally ends close to midday.
