Tourism Authority includes Royal St. Kitts in re-Discover Grand Prize

Frigate Bay, St. Kitts (April 30, 2008) – A stay at Royal St. Kitts Hotel & Casino formed part of the Grand Prize Package that the St. Kitts Tourism Authority awarded in a draw at the fifth tourism-focused “re-Discover the Caribbean” trade show.

The St. Kitts Grand Prize, drawn at the April 25th and 26th show in Barbados, also included two complimentary tickets for the 12th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival and reduced airline fare on LIAT to St. Kitts.  Monique Jackman of Barbados was the Grand Prize Winner.

Royal St. Kitts Hotel & Casino’s gift to Ms. Jackman, the Grand Prize Winner, consists of a three-night All-Inclusive stay for her and a companion during the Music Festival.

The Runner-up, Neville Beckles of Barbados, also received a three-night All-Inclusive stay at Royal St. Kitts for him and a companion from June 26th to June 28th.

Tourism officials view the “re-Discover the Caribbean” trade show as an important forum to muster the help of stakeholders in getting the region’s hospitality sector through the off-season.  ~~Adz:Right~~

Additionally, the St. Kitts Tourism Authority saw re-Discover as something else: one of the last big promotions before the 12th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival.  So, Corporate Communications Manager, Unoma Allen, and Acting Marketing Support Manager, Melnecia Daniel, of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority went on the TV program “Good Morning Barbados” to promote not only the destination but the event.

The time was 6:15a.m. on Thursday, April 24th, and for the next 15 minutes they sold; excerpts of Royal St. Kitts’ TV commercial were shown during their appearance.  (The full TV commercial played throughout the two-day re-Discover show.)

Melnecia Daniel said that among the topics they discussed were “the elements of the destination and the various activities, such as the Music Festival, one-day cricket sessions, and National Carnival, which serve as great attractions for visitors.”

She added that, “The 15 minutes was important because it sensitized not only the Barbadian public towards what St. Kitts has to offer, but other islands of the Caribbean region,” pointing out “Good Morning Barbados” airs in Grenada and St. Vincent.

By the end of the “re-Discover the Caribbean” trade show, at least 500 people had signed up to participate in the St. Kitts draw.
