Cliff David being led out of court by a Police Officer
CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS – A male resident of Nevis was jailed on Monday for attempting to attack another man at Pinneys Beach while armed with four knives.

Cliff David appeared before Magistrate Yasmine Clarke on Monday and was sentenced to four months imprisonment on charges of battery and armed weapon committed against Brian Fordyce at Pinneys Beach on April 28, 2008.

David pleaded not guilty to the charges but Magistrate Clarke, who found him guilty, firmly said, “You are forever here. When I fine you, your mother in St. Thomas pays the fine for you as if she is the one who commits the crime. I am sending you to prison!”

According to Fordyce’s testimony, David asked him for two lobsters and when
    Brian Fordyce
he told him that he did not have any, David slapped him on the face and also produced four knives in attempt to attack him.

Fordyce is an employee at the Sunshine’s Bar and Grill at Pinneys Beach.

Fordyce said a policeman on patrol came to his rescue, immediately arrested David and took away the four knives from him, which were exhibited in court.

In his evidence, David denied beating Fordyce but said, “We were fighting.”
