    Threatening language lands Newton Ground resident in jail

    ~~Adz:Left~~BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A man was sentenced to serve jail time on Tuesday after he was convicted of “making use of threatening language and being armed with an offensive weapon”.
     
    Before the District “A” Magistrate’s Court, Laughton Lake of Newton Ground Village appeared on the aforementioned charges along with a charge of “indecent language”.
     
    According to a police press release, Lake was convicted of all offences but was sentenced to serve one month each on the first two counts. He was however cautioned on the indecent language charge.
     
    Also, Farm Site, Sandy Point resident Eric Phipps appeared before the court having been charged with “harassment”. He was convicted and sentenced to serve four months at Her Majesty’s Prison.
     
    For the next five months of his life, Cleave David of Craddock Road, Nevis will be residing at Her Majesty’s Prison as punishment for his involvement in incidents of “being armed with an offensive weapon” and “battery”.  He was convicted at the District “C” Magistrate’s Court.
     
    “On 28th April 2008 Bryan Fordyce of Craddock Road reported to police that he was beaten by Cleave. A subsequent investigation led to his arrest and the charges that were brought against him,” a police press release informs.
     
    In other news, two individuals were arrested on Tuesday and will appear before the court shortly.
    Jaime George of Taylors Housing was arrested and charged with the offences of “battery” and “larceny and assault”. The offences were committed on April 26, 2008.
     
    Jermaine Wilkinson of Cotton Ground, Nevis, was arrested and charged with the offence of “gambling”.
