BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS - THE owner of cellular phone number 557-7220 has been made EC$5 000 richer yesterday [Tuesday, May 6] as Chippie completed the final draw for the Cure Raffle.

The company is also asking the winner to contact the Chippie office in Basseterre in order to collect their winnings.

Speaking at the drawing held at Chippie’s office, General Manager Alfred Harley said that Chippie would not contact the winner, but the winner must contact the company once he/she is aware of the result.

He said that with the help of the media and through advertisement they would make known the winning number to the general public, and the winner has until next Tuesday May, 13 to claim their winnings.

Harley said they had originally planned to have the winner collect the cheque at the “Cure Concert”, which featured Jamaica’s Jah Cure at Carnival Village on April 26, and the winner would have been presented the cheque by the artiste.

He said no one showed up on stage after three drawings that night and some individuals had contacted Chippie’s office after claiming they were unable to reach the stage at the time of the announcement.

Harley said Chippie is confident that the media would get the information to the listening and viewing public.

Meanwhile, in other Chippie news, Harley boasts that his company still offers the lowest rates for cellular phones, and announced the launching of a new initiative which is a reduced rate of up to 41 percent to international territories from a Chippie phone.

“Our top up is also something we’re very proud of! Right now, downstairs in our office, you’re able to top up up to a dollar just in case that’s all you need to make an emergency call,” he said.

He added that the company’s machines would be deployed in the Federation by a US-based company called Extreme Communications that is scheduled to be on the island today.

“They will handle the entire deployment of the machines throughout St. Kitts and Nevis,” Harley said.
