ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, January 12th, 2012  – The Government of the Virgin Islands is seeking responses from the public on the following:

1. “How do you assess the quality of good governance, public financial management and economic planning in the VI?”

2. “What are the priorities for improvement?”

3. “How can the UK best work with our Territory to strengthen these areas?”

In a statement by Premier and Minister for Finance Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE, on Tuesday explained that the relationship between the United Kingdom and its Overseas Territories (OTs), as outlined in the ‘White Paper’, is presently being revisited.

As an OT, the VI Government is being invited to share its views on various issues affecting its relationship with the UK, which will in turn be considered in preparing the new White Paper.

In his statement, Honourable Smith encouraged the public’s response to the various questions being sent in GIS press releases. He said, “This is yet another opportunity for the public to let their voice be heard as we collectively share our views with Her Majesty’s Government on these issues.”
