Basseterre, St. Kitts , January 12, 2012 (SCASPA) – The St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority has been working actively to resolve the problems with equipment that have created discomfort and inconvenience at the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw International Airport.
Over three months ago, a new Carrier AC chiller unit and a specially designed management system were ordered to replace the then functioning unit. The new chiller has already been delivered on site, and a team of technicians was recently on island to conduct the pre-installation checks. It is expected that by the end of January, the new unit will be installed.
Plans are also progressing to have the escalator in the Arrivals Hall back in service. The contracted maintenance provider has identified the problem, and the new part is being sourced. Passengers who prefer not to use the steps may take the elevator in the meantime.
The Management of SCASPA deeply apologises to tenants, passengers and the general public for the current situation at the Airport, and assures all that measures are being taken as quickly as possible to provide a comfortable atmosphere once more.
