    Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 17th, 2012 (SKNIS)  --  Participants attending the January 24 to 27 Mobile Apps Workshop in St. Kitts will be challenged to unleash this aspect of technology as a tool for positive change.
     
    The workshop is organized by the Department of Information Technology and aims to provide the technical and technological skills required to direct the creativity of youth away from antisocial activities, as well as to instill values to inspire thoughtful consideration of solutions to community issues.
     
    Facilitators from the BrightPath Foundation in Trinidad and Tobago will focus on the technical aspects of designing the applications to be used on Android, Apple and Blackberry mobile devices including smart phones and tablets.
     
    Topics include Understanding the Mobile Ecosystem, Choosing Your Mobile Platform, Designing User Interfaces for Mobile Devices, Understanding the App Market, App Promotion 101 and Local to Global – Market Place Launch. Team exercises dubbed “An App for That” will help foster group dynamics and networking opportunities.
     
    Local mentors with a range of expertise in technology and social related fields will be on hand to help guide the process. These include persons from eCaribbean Ltd, Department of Youth Empowerment, SKNVibes, Caribbean Credit Card Corporation, Department of Sustainable Development, and the IT Facility.
