TDC's Automotive Division is getting a facelift

The new indoor showroom

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - TDC's Automotive Division will soon be taking on an entirely new look as that Department is currently in the process of renovating.

The revamping started in April of last year and according to the Department's General Manager, Don Boncamper, the renovating should be completed very soon.

He explained that the remodeling came as a continuous initiative to better serve the customers, as well as keep up to par with the company's principles.

"One of the reasons is that it is part of the ongoing programme of TDC to have comfortable shopping facilities for its many customers, secondly, it is upgrading to our standards and to be in line with the international standards for an automotive dealer," he enunciated.

Some of the changes that have been made include the total revamping of the Division entrance to include an indoor showroom which is being remodeled North American style. The outdoors showroom has also been refashioned to display the Caribbean flavour.

The spare parts section has been relocated for a more spacious and comfortable shopping experience and the Customer Service area has been expanded to include a waiting area.

One important factor, Boncamper noted, was the inclusion of a training room which would be used to train not just the current 32 employees in that Division, but customers as well in basic vehicle maintenance and other areas of vehicular work.

"TDC has a main training facility at the Head Office so this would, in effect, be the first training room outside of the Headquarters because most of the vehicles that we have on the road now require advanced diagnostics.

We plan to train our people, sharpen their skills all year round; this will not be a one-off, but continuous training. We will be bringing in customers to participate in programmes that we will be running in vehicle maintenance to assist them in how to properly care for their vehicles," he said.

He further explained that the total cost of this new venture stands at approximately EC$1M which goes to show just how much TDC values its customers and how much it is willing to provide for them. He revealed that the building materials and supplies came from TDC's Home and Building Depot and the construction men are those of TDC's Real Estate.

Boncamper stated that customers can look forward to new, bigger and better things and that the Automotive Division would be introducing a new product line in the near future.

The Automotive Division was established in 1973 with the inception of the parent company TDC. The compound, which was once a female underwear factory, was converted into the Automotive Division.  This has been the first full renovation since that change-over.
