Bankers Association supports Police Anti-Crime Efforts

    Donation towards Purchase of Dog

     

    Basseterre, January 27th, 2012 – The Bankers & Financial Services Association (BFSA) donated EC$3,000.00 to the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force to assist them in purchasing a specialized dog, to help combat drugs and crime activity in the Federation.

     

    In making the presentation, President of the BFSA and Country Manager for CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank Ltd, Mr. G Peter Edmunds commented that criminal activity affected the entire country, and the quality of life enjoyed by the Federation’s citizens.

     

    He noted that crime especially impacted tourism, the main sector of the economy, and that the Association was pleased to be able to make a contribution towards enhancing the capabilities of the Police Force.

     

    Commissioner of Police, Mr. Celvin G Walwyn received the cheque on behalf of the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force and thanked the Association for its timely donation.

     

    The Bankers & Financial Services Association was formed in 2001 and comprises the following Financial Institutions: Bank of Nevis Ltd., Bank of Novia Scotia, CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank Ltd., RBTT Bank Caribbean Ltd., Royal Bank of Canada, and the St Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National bank Ltd.
