BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – PATRONS will only pay EC $11 for the upcoming anniversary party to celebrate 11 years of existence of Evolution Sound.
“We wanted to give back all we can to the fans for years of love and support and found it fitting to charge $11 on our 11th Anniversary Celebration,” said Yusef ‘Ubal’ Connor, a member of the Sound.
The Sound will be hosting their event on February 4th, at The Pumpkin in Newton Ground. Patrons are encouraged to arrive to the event early as they will have to pay EC$20 after 1:00 a.m.
According to one of the organizers, their annual bash will feature a host of DJs including De Teacha-Dj Yardy, T.N.O, Sweet Sister Sensia, Xtortion Sound, DJ Sugar Bowl and Heneiken Evolution.
The night will also feature artistes, Infamus, Kashman, Silk and Footsy, Pepper Ranks, Lightz Out, Small Axe and Road March Champs Grand Masters Band.
“To celebrate another year of accomplishments we will be hosting a Birthday Bash for our fans. Our vision for this event is to position Heineken Evolution HD as a continuing, memorable, entertainment group with the intention of thanking our fans, fellow DJs and members for their support over the years,” he said.
Each year the group has different experiences, is faced with different challenges and strives to offer something different to their fans.
“To us, it’s all about what you learn from those experiences. We see it as more than just entertainment; it’s a life journey. So we are looking forward to more learning and more growing,” Connor said.
The members of the group along with Connor are Lindelle ‘Webber’ Williams, Triscan Hensley, Veryn Salters, Trevon Lapsey, Elizabeth Jong, Ian ‘Rookie’ Phipps and Hasani Browne.
Connor added that over the years they have come to realize that they are motivated by the joy that comes from giving someone else happiness through the music they play.
“Life isn't easy and sometimes it even seems overwhelming but when you can just have a moment to let loose in a dance and forget about all your problems and drift away in the music it’s a beautiful thing... We are motivated by having the chance to give someone that moment,” he said.
The event, which features a dress code of green and black, also features free food, a special on mixed drinks, and their traditional large birthday cake will also be there.
Major sponsor for the event is Heineken.
“As always - just as our motto says “Music on a whole new level” this event has been successful for the past 10 years so expect nothing less than the best,” Connor said.
