BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – CHAIRMAN of the Carnival Committee Shannon Hawley has refuted rumours that she has resigned from that position.

Late last week, SKNVibes received information via various media suggesting that Hawley had stepped down from that position, leaving the business of the Sugar Mas 40/40 activities incomplete.

SKNVibes spoke with Hawley over the weekend and she indicated that the reports of her resignation were absolutely false.

“That is not true. That is false. There are no actual plans to resign anytime soon.”

She explained that at present, her main focus is on organising a prize giving ceremony, the final event for the sugar Mas’ 40/40 Festival.

“My focus right now is to complete my task which is to have the prize-giving ceremony completed and get everybody paid. That is my focus.

This publication understands that the prize-giving ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, February 4.

It is expected to take the form of a cocktail and SKNVibes understands that plans are being made for it to be hosted by the Governor-General at Government House. However, that has yet to be confirmed.

During the ceremony, dozens of participants and winners of the Sugar Mas’ 40/40 events are expected to receive their prizes.
