BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - RESIDENTS of and individuals who pass through the Sandy Point area are asked to be on their guard as an individual or individuals have been committing sexual offences in the community.

Rumours are rife that as far back as a few weeks ago females have lodged complaints indicating that they have been victims of sexual assaults, incidents which occurred in parts of Sandy Point.

SKNVibes sought to ascertain if these rumours hold any truth and an officer at the Sandy Point Police Station was contacted. The officer confirmed the rumours and informed that they have received at least four reports “in recent times” of the commission of sexual crimes in the Sandy Point area.

While one person is in custody assisting with investigations into the incidents which include rape, the officer requested that persons continue to exercise vigilance. ~~Adz:Right~~

“The situation remains the same as far as vigilance is concerned. We are asking persons to be vigilant at all times because everywhere you go things can happen, and for the past couple of weeks we have been getting reports of some person or persons who seem to have been committing sexual offences. We have somebody in custody, but we are still asking persons to be on the lookout for any suspicious-looking individuals.”

The officer also confirmed that there have been some reports of “peeping tommery” but could not say whether or not the perpetrator is the individual who is in custody.

“We have one person in custody. We are not aware of any other person at the moment but if our investigation reveals that there are others, we will act accordingly. Persons with any information about any related incident are asked to contact the Sandy Police Station at 465-6261. Persons giving information can do so on an anonymous basis.”
