Press Release

ST. John's Antigua, January 26th, 2012 --  The students of the Trinity Academy have embarked on a community service project beach cleanup initial themed “10 of 365 – I can’t do everything but I can do something”.

So far, the students have successfully concluded four beach clean-ups at the Ffryes Beach, Morris Bay, York’s Beach and Darkwood Beach.

This initiative forms part of the school’s curriculum, which enable students to balance academics with civic pride.

Teacher of the newly opened secondary school which is located on Christian Valley Rd, Adeola Matthew said the program will continue throughout the school year.

“The students are quite enthusiastic and we do hope other schools will come on board and assist in making our beaches attractive for locals and our visitors,” said Ms. Matthew “after all, the beach is only the beginning to what our beautiful island has to offer. So why not start there?”

Meanwhile, the Chief Environment Officer Diann Black-Layne has commended the efforts of Trinity Academy.

She urged other schools to participate in such gesture.

“It is a great initiative and we hope that the public will support them by disposing of litter properly.”
