BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – CLIVE GRANT was given an additional three years and four months in prison at his sentencing today, Feb. 2, for pleading guilty to being found with housebreaking implements after he was sentenced to eight years last October for housebreaking.

Both sentences will run consecutively with each other.

According to the evidence presented in court sometime on the night of January 21, Grant was spotted in Basseterre and when he saw police he started running and hid himself before he was caught.

He was found with a backpack which contained a crowbar, a multifunctional tool and a screwdriver.

Grant asked the court for leniency and said he did not have any intention of breaking into anyone’s place with the items found in his bag.

He said that he works construction and those are the items he uses.
According to his social inquiry report by Probation Officer Elvis Thomas, Grant is no stranger to the court and prison.

“Yours is a familiar story, crime after crime without thought of making a better life,” Judge Thomas said.

He was then sentenced to five years with a third of his sentence being reduced due to his guilty plea.

On October 31, 2011 he was sentenced to eight year hard labour for the crime of burglary, committed on January 21, 2011 in the New Pond Site home of Trevor ‘Jamsta’ Woodley from which he stole a Sony Ericsson cellular phone worth EC$700.
