By: Suelika N. Creque, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ON Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14) the popular Rockaway Revolution will host a night celebrating the love of music at Cloud 9 beginning at 10:00 p.m.

The event will be called Rockaway R.E.D, ‘For the love of music’ with the R.E.D meaning R-ewinding the musical clocks to the decade of the 80’s, E-levating your standard of entertainment and D-ancing like you use to back in the days.

The first Rockaway event was held on Dec. 26 2011, and was said to be a movement and paradigm shift in the way entertainment was viewed in St.Kitts and Nevis.

According to Sherlan Roland, one of the organizers of the event, persons are still talking about their first experience of Rockaway and describe it as more than just a party.

He said the first event was awesome and that this one will be even greater.

“It’s all about love, if you are a lover of music, if you’re in love and love celebrating Valentine’s Day, this is the event for you, don’t miss it,” he said.

This time around, the night will kick off with spoken word poetry from some of the most talented rhyming lyricists in the Federation followed by the heavenly voices of Range, an all-male group that sings a cappella.

The night will continue with the Royalties Band which features Mick Stokes, Mimi Armstrong, Charles Emmanuel and Rolhensha and will feature favorite hits from the past ‘spinned’ by DJ Ronnie Rascal.

According to a spokesperson of the event, “If we learnt one thing at Rockaway 2011 it was not to ever underestimate the readiness of the masses for quality change in the model and mode of entertainment in the Federation. Attendees, young, middle-aged and older, showed and proved that they were willing and ready with opportunity to invest in quality entertainment!”

“This is an event where participants will not only celebrate Valentine’s Day and the love for their significant other but will also celebrate the love of Music and most importantly the love of 80’s Music and Culture,” they said.

Tickets are being sold at G’s Plus Size Store on Central Street and at Cloud 9.
