BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, February 7th, 2012 (CUOPM) – As the Caribbean nation of Grenada celebrates another independence anniversary on Tuesday, St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas has sent congratulations to St. George’s.

“I wish to extend, on behalf of the Government and people of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, and on my own behalf, heartiest congratulations to you, the Government and the good people of Grenada on this momentous occasion – the Thirty-Eighth Anniversary of your country’s Independence,” said Dr. Douglas in a message to his Grenada counterpart, the Hon. Tillman Thomas.

Dr. Douglas said the selected theme for this year’s celebration; “Breaking all Barriers, Striving for Greater Achievements under one Flag” speaks to the ambition and strong sense of hope which characterises the people of Grenada.

“Such attributes will enable you to work to accomplish even greater feats as a nation; and will undoubtedly be essential to the task of overcoming the challenges we face in creating a stronger region,” said Prime Minister Douglas, adding:

“As the people of Grenada celebrate their sovereignty, I pray that you will continue to be blessed with progress and prosperity in all your endeavours.”
