Road Town Sewerage contracts signed, works to commence

    ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, February 6th, 2012  –  Sewerage problems in Road Town are one step closer to being solved with the signing of over $866,000dollars worth of contracts to commence sewerage works.

    On Friday 3 February Minister for Communications and Works, Honourable Mark Vanterpool signed the contracts to commence Phase I of the Road Town component of the National Sewerage Project.

     

    “The contracts that will be signed today are necessary for the commencement of the pipeline construction phase of the Road Town Project,” Minister Vanterpool said during the contract signing.

     

    Petty contracts and supply agreements for the construction of a temporary staging area, installation of sewer lines and appurtenances as well as CCTV inspections were signed during the brief ceremony.

     

    Minister Vanterpool reported that the ministry is well within the time frame that has been set for the signing and execution of these contracts. The minister noted that the funding for the project came from a previously approved loan.

     

    “The impact of improving the sewerage systems in the capital cannot be overstated particularly since Road Town is the centre of commerce. Moreover addressing this problem is part of the overall capital improvement project that will also include upgrades to our harbours and piers and other infrastructural works that are designed to enhance the image of our capital,” minister Vanterpool concluded.

     

    The Road Town component of the National Sewerage Project is a component of the National Sewerage Project that was signed between Government CBE Engineering Associates Limited for management, engineering and construction supervision services for the national sewerage project.

     

    The Ministry of Communications and Works is committed to the continued development and maintenance of the Territory’s public infrastructure.
