BRADES, Montserrat, February 6th, 2012  – The first draft of Montserrat’s ICT plan was reviewed last week by members of the national committee and the consulting team from the Caribbean Telecommunications Union.

Led by Nigel Cassimir, CTU’s Telecommunications’ Specialist, the three-person team discussed with the local committee the elements comprised in the plan which was developed after extensive meetings with stakeholders and shaped to support the island’s Sustainable Development Plan.

The team also included Antony Ming, the Informatics Adviser with the Commonwealth Secretariat, who offered advice on further improving the plan but also offered support with developing Montserrat’s ICT needs in the area of education.

John Mollenthiel an ICT Consultant made several key recommendations in shaping the plan, around the theme Montserrat in a Digital world: Green, Connected and Thriving.

The recommendations from the national committee which includes DITES director Denzil West, Director of Information Nerissa Golden, MUL’s Peter White, Dr. Samuel Joseph of Lavabits and other government and private stakeholders will be adopted into the second revision of the plan before it is submitted to Cabinet for consideration within the next two months.
