Press Release (BVI)

ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, February 7th, 2012 – Minister for Communications and Works, Honourable Mark Vanterpool is scheduled to meet with the Ports Authority workers tomorrow February 8, at 7:00 pm at the Road Town Jetty.

The purpose of the meeting is to give the minister an opportunity to be formally introduced to the employees as well as to provide a forum where opinions can be voiced and concerns expressed. “This meeting with the staff comes at a time where there are a number of pressing issues concerning ports and port development.

We are going to use this forum to address these issues as well as to collectively brainstorm solutions to ensure that the Authority functions optimally,” Minister Vanterpool told the Department of Information and Public Relations.

Minister Vanterpool noted that a cohort of managers from the Ministry and Ports Authority will be present at tomorrow’s meeting. Therefore, the employees are encouraged to come out and participate in the discussion.

The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority was established in 1996 to provide the required sea transportation infrastructure that is critical in the efficient handling of passenger and cargo transportation, which helps to bolster the Territory’s economy.
