BLACK SAN’ Bang-A-Lang is back!! Everybody Come!

Press Release (BLACK SAN)

SANDY POINT - St. Kitts and Nevis, February 9th, 2012 — It's that time of year again. Excitement is in the air. People are anticipating another festive round as SPIRIT, the makers of Chambalay, gear up for this year’s Black San’ Bang-a-lang!

The nation’s premiere community festival is fast approaching its second annual staging and already, the ‘Everybody come’ chant is ringing over the islands. Major changes are lined up for this year’s four-week festival, and though much has not yet been revealed, organizers have hinted that participants can expect an explosive month-long bang-a-lang.

‘’Black San’ has already gathered a name for itself and 2012 will compound it all! We have spent the last six months ensuring that we refine the Black San product. All our committees have gotten community feedback and we have made a number of changes to deliver a mega festival, though we are just in our second year,’’ SPIRIT PRO Che-raina Warner said.

This year, the festival is set to run from March 25th-April 21st to account for the early Easter break. Black San will return with the community favorites from last year and plans for a drama festival, community collaborations, additional j’ouvert troupes and an earlier release of Black San merchandise have been revealed.

What has not changed from last year though is the support the festival has been able to win not only from the communities SPIRIT serves but also its partners in community development. RAM’s has again secured a top spot as one of Black San’s 2012 Platinum sponsors, as the trading powerhouse sets itself apart as an even greater investor in people and communities. Also, commitments have been reached in principle with three other major sponsors from last year.

Registration for all major Black San’ Bang-a-lang events opens on February 9. So, whether you are a calypsonian ready to claim the King Ah De San title, a model keen on boasting that Miss Black San Swimsuit crown or you would like to be a volunteer, vendor or sponsor you will be able to make your commitment to this year’s events by contacting SPIRIT at 664-7909 or via email at sandypointspirit@gmail.com.

‘’This year, we are looking forward to many more businesses becoming community partners with us and sponsoring events. We are also aiming for an increase in Black San donors, where any interested person can make a donation to the events, however small,’’ Warner added.

The festival website, www.blacksanbangalang.com, will be re-launched on February 9, 2012 and there, you would be able to view highlights of last year’s events, order your very own Black San’ merchandise, register as a volunteer, and make a donation.

The countdown to this cultural explosion has begun! Black San Bang-a-lang 2012: Everybody Come!!
