Machete wielder shot by police in Nevis

Alexandria Hospital
By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – A man is reportedly nursing a bullet wound at the Alexandra Hospital in Nevis after being shot yesterday morning (Feb. 12) by a member of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force.

Information reaching SKNVibes states that one Glenn Williams of Brick Kiln, Nevis was shot in the right instep after he failed to heed warnings from members of the Delta Squad and officers from the Nevis Division.

This information was confirmed by the Officer-in-Charge of that Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police Robert Liburd, who stated that between 8:30 and 9:00 yesterday morning, police received a report that Williams, armed with a machete, was terrorising and threatening residents of Brick Kiln.

The ACP explained that on arrival, the officers confronted Williams and told him to put down the machete.

He however disobeyed the repeated order and instead attacked the officers who, in defence, used minimum force by shooting him in the instep.

Williams, it is said, was then taken to the hospital and treated for the injury. However, it was not confirmed if he was charged or not.

This publication was reliably informed that Williams is known to be mentally challenged.
