BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AFTER a year filled with ups and downs and endless parties weekend after weekend, the now popular Gspot Night Club in Sandy Point is celebrating one year in existence.
According to owner and Manager Shane ‘Rush’ Warner, the club is still an ongoing project with much work to be done. “We started on the area in 2009 then began building in 2010 and completed it on February 25, 2011,” he explained.
Warner stated that the year had its challenges, one being the name because many people had their own perception of what they thought the club would be. He went on to say he named the club Gspot because he wanted to give it a sexual flavor that would separate it from the others.
During their year, the club also underwent a transformation in which it was expanded from having one dance floor to two, one of which they use for the bands and the other for the DJs.
Warner indicated that they are also working on a kitchen to serve lunch during the day and a Gentle Men’s Club and VIP section.
Their celebration will kick off in style on Friday, February 24 when they will host their anniversary bash dubbed ‘Money Green’, and patrons are asked to also follow that colour theme to win special prizes.
The event will feature music by Small Axe Band, Grand Master Band, Freedom Sound and DJ Shaggy. There will also be performances by Artikal, Astro B, Smoke Weed, Chester B, D.C, Gun Child and Norrish.
The Divine Modelling Agency will also add some excitement to the night with a teasing lingerie segment.
No celebration is complete without give-a-ways. Therefore, the first female in the club will win a free hairstyle from Divine Hair Creations. Other prizes will be up for grabs for – Best Female Pole Dancer, Sexiest Money Green Girl and First High Roller to spend a $100 at the Bar, amongst many others throughout the night.
To top off the merriment, there will be a happy hour from 10:00 p.m. to midnight and free jello shots all night.
The owner said that he would like to give special thanks to the supporters who stuck with them through hard times and troubles as well as those who contributed to making the Gspot what it is today.
Warner, during his interview with SKNVibes, gave some word of advice to the young people like himself.
“Anything you dream or believe that you can do is possible just as long as you are determined and put your mind to it.”
He also made mention of an after school programme that he is currently working on, in which there would be qualified personnel available to assist school children with their homework and studies in all subject areas.
He said this would be a means to keep the children occupied and also ease the burden off parents who may not have the time to render assistance to their children.
Warner stressed that it would be a supervised environment and there would also be free wifi available so that the children could take along their laptops.
The Gspot owner said that during the building process of the club he met with the Prime Minister, who assured him that if he sticks with his plans everything would work out fine.
He therefore said he is grateful as a young businessman for the opportunity to pursue his goals and he is now extending a personal invitation to the PM so he could see what he has accomplished.
Warner also took the opportunity to encourage people to come out to Sandy Point this Friday, for there would be lots happening in the Village as Club Latern would also be in action that night.
