    Celebrates 20 Years of Excellence

     


    Reed Data Services, Ltd. is the island’s premier data processing company.RDS, as it is affectionately known, officially launched its operations on April 8th, 1988 with 28 employees, 11 of whom are still with the company.  Today, the phenomenal expansion of the company is providing employment for over 200 well-trained and highly skilled employees, while celebrating an auspicious milestone of 20 Years.

     

    Prior to the week of celebrations, RDS demonstrated its good corporate citizenship by making generous community donations.  These included five Dell Computers to the following institutions: Cayon and Sandy Point Police Stations, RLB Fire Station, Tabernacle Community Center, and the Pediatric Ward of the JNF General Hospital.  Another donation of an air conditioning compressor unit, along with a check to enable installation was donated to Project Strong for their computer room.

     

    The official week of celebrations commenced on May 4th with a spirit filled service at the Zion Moravian Church, Basseterre, in which the RDS staff participated.

     

    On Tuesday, May 6th all employees journeyed to the Reggae Beach Bar owned by Gary Pereira, where staff was treated to a day of fun, frolic and good food.  The staff participated in several games, including Lime ‘n Spoon, Tug of War, and a 50 meter dash.

     

    As a means of providing the residents of St. Kitts & Nevis an opportunity to better understand who RDS is and what they do, RDS held an Open Day on Wednesday, May 7th.  

     Over 200 persons visited the offices, including dignitaries, specially invited guests, High School and CFBC students along with the general public.  All of the visitors were impressed with the professionalism displayed and many expressed an appreciation for the complexity of the tasks that are performed daily.

     

    On Thursday, May 8th, RDS held its all employee Valuing Our People (VOP) Meeting and Luncheon.  At this event, persons were recognized for their invaluable contributions with the awarding of plaques for living the RDS Shared Values and certificates and monetary awards were given to outstanding achievers including those celebrating milestone years of service.

      The highlight was the announcement of the recipient of the annual Tom Foster Award:  Karis Trotman.  Tom Foster was the Founder and former Chairman of RDS who was present to share in the festivities.  In addition, there were a number of selections performed by management and staff.

     

    The final event was the grand Gala Banquet held at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino on Friday, May 9th.  The adornment of the ballroom was simply elegant and all attendees were beautifully attired in their formal wear.

    Amongst the celebrants were: H.E. Dr. Sir Cuthbert Sebastian, Governor General, Deputy Prime Minister, the Honorable Sam Condor, other ministers of government, visiting dignitaries from various US offices, including Tad Smith, CEO Reed Business Information - US, Bill O’Brien, Chairman of RDS, and Tom Foster, Founder and former Chairman of RDS.

     

    The featured speaker for this momentous occasion was Dr. The Honorable Timothy Harris.

     

    The RDS Starlite Choir performed ‘We Give Thee Thanks’ and a standing ovation was offered after an outstanding celebratory tribute was performed by RDS staffer Kibiane Willett-Maynard who wrote the song for this event.

     

    The curtains were brought down with dancing to the music of DJ Rascal.
