~~Adz:Left~~BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A group of fishermen returned to the coast of Old Road yesterday afternoon with what they describe as the biggest catch they have ever made.

The men left the shore at about 6:00 Sunday morning and on their return some seven hours later they brought with them a more than 14-foot long, 252-pound Blue Marlin; their sole catch for the day.

SKNVibes spoke with Tod Peets, captain of the vessel in which the men who caught the fish were, who explained that while he piloted the vessel he was not responsible for the big haul”.

“We were about 20 miles off Old Road Bay when the fish was caught. I was piloting the vessel but it was a guy by the name of Keith who caught the fish. He is one who fishes with me regularly. We caught two last week but they got away. It was about 9:30 in the morning that we caught this fish and we stayed out there until the afternoon, but that was the only catch for the day…”

Peets explained that his crew is accustomed to catch “big fish” but this is a personal record-breaker. “This is our biggest catch ever. I am proud of what we did but it is still somewhat a normal occurrence for us.”

Other persons identified as Emile and Sylpatre were also aboard the vessel when the catch was made.

The captain of the vessel told SKNVibes that he has already begun preparing the fish to be sold and also preparing to return to sea.
