Business Update - Out with the old, in with the new

By: Jenise Ferlance, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - The Chamber of Industry and Commerce (CIC) has elected a new chairman to oversee the matters of the Chamber for the next two years.

The new chairman, LIME’s General Manager David Lake was elected to take over from TDC's Chairman Michael Morton at the CIC's 63rd Annual General Meeting.

Newly elected Lake is ready to put in place his first order of business which he revealed in an exclusive interview with SKNVibes.

"The Chamber finds itself at a pivotal juncture in our nation’s history. Given the economic and social challenges we face currently, what we do now is critical to how we fare later on. My first order of business therefore will be to refocus the organisation on the task of creating the enabling environment in which businesses operating in the Federation would thrive and grow. That is the primary responsibility entrusted to us by our members, and that would be my number one priority.”

Along with Lake, Damion Hobson of Hobson Enterprises Ltd. was elected Vice President, Judith Ng’alla of S. L. Horsford and Co Ltd. was elected Treasurer while Scott Caines of C&C Trading, Kajola Kristada Ltd’s Jose Rosa, Everette Martin of the Bank of Nevis Ltd and the outgoing president were elected as Board Members.
