BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SHE had her eyes on the prize and although she won it for the first time, she strongly believes that she could do it again.
Her name is Jessica Daniel and she was named Kajola Kristada’s Employee of the Month (EOM) for January 2012.
The announcement was made only days ago that the Population Department worker, for the first time during EOM programme, had won the coveted award.
Daniel – who has been employed by Kajola Kristada for the past 10-plus years – told SKNVibes that it is customary for her to “work well” but she made a special effort this time around.
“I am feeling excited and good that I won the January Employee of the Month award. I made an extra effort at work and I am happy that I won.”
According to Beulah Sutton – member of the Employee of the Month Committee – Daniel’s name was among a list of 10, one selected from each department, and after all candidates were judged against the criteria Daniel copped the award.
The awardee is selected having best met the 10 criteria which include Attitude, Punctuality, Quality of Work, Attendance and Efficiency.
Daniel’s Supervisor, Enid Smith, said she is proud of her employee and her accomplishment, describing her as an efficient and dedicated worker.
“For the month, she is here on time every morning. She is a quiet person who works well and she is very friendly. She is always willing to help and she works very well with others.”
A framed photograph of her will be prominently displayed on the company’s Employee of the Month wall where it would remain for the ensuing year. And at the end of that period, it would be replaced by that of the January 2013 Employee of the Month.
SKNVibes understands that Daniel would receive a $250 shopping gift voucher.
The Employee of the Month initiative – according to Sutton – was instituted “as a means of boosting the morale of the employees and as a way of giving something back. It is also to about making the workers feel appreciated.”
