Thousands of cruise passengers visit St. Kitts

    BASSETERRE St. Kitts, February 29th 2012 (CUOPM) – The steady visit of cruise ships to St. Kitts’ Port Zante continued this week with three ships on Monday and Tuesday and two ships on Wednesday.
     
    According to statistics from the from the Marine Division of the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA), 4,510 cruise passengers visited on Monday, 6,857 on Tuesday and 3,007 passengers on Wednesday bringing to 14,347 the number of cruise passengers visiting so far for this week.
     
    The Seabourne Spirit with 200 passengers, the 2,450-passenger Celebrity Summit with 2123 passengers and the 2,680-passenger Carnival Miracle came on Monday.
     
    On Tuesday the 2,850-passenger Celebrity Equinox with 2,832 passengers and the 2540-passenger Serenade of the Seas with 2,143 passengers docked at Port Zante, while the 2,281-passenger Mein Schiff anchored in the Port of Basseterre with 1,882 passengers.
     
    On Wednesday, the 2,850-passnger Celebrity Eclipse arrived from St. Maarten with 2,807 passengers and the 255-passneger Royal Clipper arrived from Antigua with 200 passengers. The Eclipse’s next port of call is Miami while it is Guadeloupe for the Clipper.
     
    Most of the passengers came ashore and went on sight-seeing tours in Basseterre and island wide via the St. Kitts Scenic Railway, buses or taxis.
     
    Hundreds also headed for Brimstone Hill, sea and sun bathing on the beaches, snorkeling, sailing to Nevis, horseback riding, golfing, casino gambling, shopping and biking while others took time to surf the internet and make contact with friends and family.
     
    The 1,611-passenger Thomson Dream visits on Thursday, the 3,050-passenger Carnival Victory on Friday and the 3,100-passenger Emerald Princess and the Silver Cloud on Saturday.
