'Donkey' charged for breaking into TechSperts

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ANOTHER man was recently arrested and charged for breaking into TechSperts Store on Liverpool Row, Basseterre from where he allegedly stole a number of items.

     

    According to Inspector Charles Smithen, head of the Criminal Investigation Department, Terrance ‘Donkey’ Casey of Shear Lane, Basseterre was charged with building breaking and larceny.

     

    “On February 28, 2012, Casey was spotted by a patrolling unit in the public market area and police officers of the Criminal Investigation Department set chase after him on foot and eventually cornered and captured him,” Smithen said.

     

    Inspector Smithen also said that Casey was charged for stealing goods to the tune of EC$55 525.18 from TechSperts and an additional charge for stealing a number of items from Lucky Cosmetics sometime in the past.

     

    SKNVibes learnt that on the morning of Friday, February 3, 2012, employees of TechSperts Store arrived at work and found the building broken into.

     

    It was also learnt that the breakage might have occurred early in the morning or late on the previous night.

     

    Casey is the second man to have been charged with breaking into that business place.

     

    On Thursday (Feb. 23), a police press release stated that Shawn Liburd of Carty Alley, Newtown had allegedly broken into TechSperts and was charged with building breaking and larceny.

     

    SKNVibes further learnt that images of the perpetrators, including a female, were caught on the security camera and this had led to the two men’s arrest.

     

    Casey is known to have numerous brushes in the past with the law for larceny.

     

    According to articles published by this media house, On Monday, January 26, 2007, he was charged with the offence of larceny committed on December 15, 2006 at King’s Pavilion on Sprott Street.

     

    He was convicted of the offence and fined EC$750 to be paid in one month or, if in default, serve a six-month imprisonment with hard labour.

     

    Casey was also charged with larceny committed on May 31, 2007 and was convicted and sentenced to serve 30 months in prison with hard labour.

     

    And on Monday, November 29, 2010, the 40-year-old man was again arrested and charged with larceny. This time the offence was committed at Fort Thomas Road in Basseterre on September 28 of that said year.

     

    SKNVibes was however unaware of the outcome of this particular case.
