    Premier Parry addresses Caribbean- American Business persons at New York Luncheon
     

    Hon.Joseph Parry at Caribbean -American Business Luncheon
    (CHARLESTOWN,NEVIS- WEDNESDAY,June 4th, 2008) “We are one people, whether we are in the Caribbean or in the United States, we have one goal and that is to elevate our people!” These were the sentiments echoed by Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry, when he delivered remarks on Tuesday, June 3rd at the 23rd Annual Entrepreneur of the Year Awards luncheon, hosted by the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (CACCI). The auspicious event was held at the Steiner Movie Studio in Brooklyn, New York.
     
    The Nevis leader who left the Federation on Monday this week, was invited by the Caribbean –American business community in New York, to make a presentation from a Caribbean head of government perspective on small business in the Caribbean community. 
     
    In attendance at the prestigious awards ceremony were some of New York’s most prominent Caribbean business people, such as the Comptroller of the City of New York- Hon. William Thompson, Former Brooklyn Councilwoman- Mrs. Una Clarke, Century 21 franchise owner- Mr. Tony Sadio, Golden Crust founder- Mr. Lowell Hawthorne and a host of other distinguished persons.
     
    “I understand the importance of small business and I am very pleased to see that there are so many people from the Caribbean in New
    Hon Joseph Parry w/ Former Brooklyn Councilwoman Mrs. Una Clarke
    York, who are working hard to build this city and the United States of America,” said the Premier.
     
    Every year the Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award is given to someone who has made an outstanding mark in the business sector among the Caribbean Community.
     
    This year, the honour was bestowed on Grenadian son of the soil Dr. Roy Haystick CEO and CACCI President.
     
    “I congratulate Dr. Roy Haystick for the great work he has done to promote small business and develop Caribbean Unity among business owners in New York,” said Premier Parry.
     
    During the very well articulated speech, Premier Parry indicated that on his way to the hotel from the airport, he received the good news that geothermal energy had been found on Nevis and that the first plant would be able to supply both St.Kitts and Nevis with electrical power. “Nevis will be the first Eastern Caribbean and Caricom member to have the supply,” he informed the highly responsive and appreciative audience.
     
    The Premier added that it is also the hope of his Government to be able to supply energy to regional islands as far as the United States Virgin Islands in the very near future.
