BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LEEWARD ISLAND’S all-rounder, Tonito Willett said that the death of West Indies and Trinidad batsman Runako Morton of Nevis is a huge loss in his life.

He told SKNVibes.com in an exclusive interview that Morton was like a bigger brother to him.

“It’s real hard to talk about right now, I knew him basically all my life,” said the 29-year-old Cricketer.

Morton was killed in a car crash in Trinidad on Sunday, March 4. He was 33-years-old.

Reports stated that Morton lost control of a car and slammed into a pole and died on the spot.

He was described as one of the few cricketers to emerge from the island of Nevis.

Willett said he was informed of the news sometime after 11:00 p.m. from a friend in Barbados who sent him a text and asked him if he heard what happened to Runako.

“She told me he was involved in a car accident and I immediately began making calls,” he said.

Willett described him as a “very kind and over generous” person.

Morton had played 15 Tests, 56 One Day Internationals and seven Twenty20s for the West Indies Cricket team and his last appearance for the West Indies was against Australia in a Twenty20 International in 2010.

His career had spanned some 17 years during which time, in addition to the West Indies, he had represented Nevis, the Leeward Islands and Trinidad.
