Happy Birthday SKNVibes - Fisherman’s Wharf edition

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WITH just a few steps, the ambiance immediately transitioned from one riddled with the hustle and bustle of everyday life into one filled with the sight of wave-kissed sand and the calming sound of  waves caressing the shores.

And what a fitting atmosphere it is for family members, friends or even colleagues to – if but for a moment – ditch the rigidities of their existence and enjoy each other’s company over a lovely dinner with soft music playing in the background.

The Fisherman’s Wharf provides such an atmosphere and was the venue for the first of several activities commemorating SNVibes.com’s 10th Anniversary on the evening of Friday (Mar. 2), where employees of the online media house gathered for a night of dining, great company and “epic entertainment”.

The restaurant – housed in an appealingly rustic wooden structure and sitting partly on the sea – offers but not limited to a menu which is reminiscent of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean’s yields.

Dubbed Fish Fry Fridays, Sword Fish, Tuna or King Fish Dinners are offered at discounted prices on Fridays.

And for those who thought seafood was the only menu they would have enjoyed that evening, they were surprised to learn that a variety of other discounted delectable dishes were available, including Barbequed Ribs and Barbequed Wings Dinners.

Each is served with either rice and peas or rice and spinach, steamed vegetables and ‘johnny cakes’.

The Hot Wings, Goat Water, Conch Chowder and Conch Fritters Appetizers – also discounted for the Fridays activity - are said to be crowd pleasers.

After enjoying the evening’s cuisine, service and ambiance, it was entertainment time. After all, it is on Fridays that Fisherman’s Wharf hosts its Karaoke session.

There were those in the SKNVibes family who preferred to keep their ‘keys’ to themselves and then there were the brave hearts; those who understood the concept of “carrying your own key” and who understood the value of entertainment, especially after a hard day’s work.

From a rendition of Bruno Mars’ ‘Grenade’ to Bob Marley’s ‘War’ and to Al Greene’s ‘Let’s Stay Together’, the keys were indeed carried by the SKNVibes staff members and other patrons of the Fisherman’s Wharf.

The energy was such that it prompted the creation of an involuntary chorus line, which occasionally erupted in spontaneous laughter with the passage of each performance.

The ambiance, the service, the cuisine, the entertainment, the Fisherman’s Wharf - the venue of SKNVibes’ 10th Anniversary Dinner – all made up a night to remember.

    Cheers, SKNVibes!
