    National Bank donates $15,000 to Nevis Cricket Association

    CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – CRICKET CLUBS in Nevis have causes to celebrate following a generous donation to their Association by the National Bank, Nevis branch.

     

    National Bank’s Manager Sherming Lewis yesterday presented a cheque to the tune of EC$15 000 to Oscar Walters, President Nevis Cricket Association.

     

    Lewis said the donation was in keeping with the Bank’s policy of support to sports. “The Bank has always supported sports. It is a means of harnessing the youth’s energy so that they can find life meaningful.”

     

    Walters thanked the Bank for the generous donation and noted that “the Bank is not a new sponsor and we appreciate its efforts”.

     

    Walters said the cricket season in Nevis opens tomorrow (Saturday) at Grove Park and also at Ramsbury playfield. He stated that the season would last for two to three weeks and Bronx United of Brown Hill, Pennyless All Stars of Government Road and Empire Cricket team of Gingerland as well as Cotton Ground Cricket Team would be participating. ~~Adz:Right~~

     

    The objective of the cricket season, which kicks off this weekend, is to prepare for the One Day Leeward Island Nagico Tournament scheduled to be held during the second week of July. Three games will be played locally while another three will be played overseas.

     

    The islands involved in the regional tournament are St. Kitts, Nevis, Antigua, Montserrat, Anguilla and the British Virgin Islands.
